How safe is gliding?
There are risks involved in gliding, and to ignore that would be stupid. There are also risks involved in driving on the freeway or swimming in the sea. How many fatal or serious car accidents have you seen along the road or how many shark attacks have you witnessed? How many glider accidents have you heard of? Gliding is an extremely safe sport, and safety always comes first. Just like any aircraft, the gliders are inspected (DI) before a day of flying, and kept in a an excellent flying condition. We would dare to say that it is more unsafe to drive on the freeway than to glide. Pilots are issued with parachutes, which could be used in case of mid air collusions at high altitudes. Ohterwise, the safety of the pilots depends largely on his own sanity and how serious he takes his own life.
