Bloemfontein Gliding Club offers the following facilities:

The club house sports a bar, swimming pool and braai (BBQ). Future plans exists for a broadband internet connection, which could provide an internet access point to club members and visitors at nominal fee.
There are also shaded parking spots and camping facilities. The club have several hangars and special shade parking for gliders, including water points and a tie down area.

To get airborne, Bloemfontein Gliding Club offers a dual drum winch for launching. Tugs are available between October and February when Soaring Safaris is there.

Bloemfontein Gliding Club has two Ka7's, a SF-25 and several member owned gliders. Soaring Safaris visits the club from October to February each year, and they also have several gliders that are for rent by qualified pilots. (Including beasts like the ASH 25 and Nimbus 3) The Gliding Club operates on 4 (actually 3) runways: 36/18 Grass, 31/18 Asphalt (In middle of 36/18), 31/13 Grass, 27/09 Grass. The other runways on Tempe Airfield are used by the power flying club and cross runways 36/18 and 27/09. The power flying club and the gliding club has an agreement that they will not use crossing runways, although gliding pilots should always be on the lookout for the odd cross wind landing or take-off by powered aircraft. The Sky diving club also uses the "square" between the gliding Club and New Tempe runways on weekends for their parachute landings.

Here is a map of the airfield: TIP: You can right click on the map, and select to Zoom in. It will then be possible to drag the map back and forth to view different areas while they are zoomed in.
